Robot welding service at Knees Engineering

Over the past few years, we have invested heavily in the most advanced equipment and technology to provide our customers with a fast, economical and efficient robot welding service.

Our modern and well-equipped factory includes a state-of-the-art robotic arm that can be programmed to complete our customers’ MIG welding requirements. The robot welding process enables us to produce more consistent and repeatable welds in a shorter time frame, making it the ideal solution for high volume repetitive batch jobs.

As well as having the right equipment, the welding process requires specialist expertise – and that’s where we excel. With a wealth of experience behind them, our highly skilled welding team will set up the robot and oversee it during the manufacturing process.

What are the benefits of robot welding?

Robot welding has numerous benefits for both the fabricator and the customer. Some of the advantages of robot welding include:

Consistent quality and repeatability

Manual welding demands a high level of skill and exceptional concentration to achieve consistency and repeatability. Unlike their human counterparts, robotic welders can perform the same weld cycle continuously – 24 hours a day, 7 days a week – while maintaining the same high quality output.

Increased productivity

Robot welders can perform the same operation three to five times faster than a human welder, increasing productivity and efficiency significantly. They also make production scheduling that much easier as the robot’s weld cycle time is always the same.

Solves labour shortage

Manual welding demands a high level of skill that takes many years to perfect, meaning experienced welders are often in short supply. Robot welding has helped to overcome this issue. Robots also allow the most skilled human welders to focus on more customised and complex welding jobs that require a manual approach.

Less waste

Even the most experienced human welders make mistakes. However, as every movement of a robot welder is planned and automated, there’s a much lower chance of errors occurring.

What is robot welding?

minus icon plus icon
Robot welding is an automated manufacturing method that uses mechanised programmable tools (robots) to perform the welding process.

The robot is programmed to control the welding torch and complete the weld according to a specific set of instructions. Although the welding itself is carried out by the robot, a human welder still controls and supervises the process.

Once programmed, the robot welds to the same dimensions and specifications to ensure every workpiece is identical.

What’s more, a robotic welder is capable of welding complicated shapes and can be programmed to weld 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This greatly improves productivity and efficiency, while guaranteeing consistently high-quality results.

Even the most experienced professionals can’t replicate the speed and repeatability that can be achieved with robot welding.

Robots can be used to perform a variety of  welding techniques such as spot, TIG and MIG welding.
